The Themes and Variations range is based on the face of opera singer, Lina Cavalieri, found by Piero Fornasetti in a 19th century french magazine. Seen here is an illustration of a figure spinning the Themes & Variations No.1 plate. No wonder Fornasetti was called the Designer of Dreams.
The base rim is pierced for stringing with picture wire to suspend on a hook.
