One.Six.Eight Wins RIBA London Award 2019

20.05.2019
One.Six.Eight was announced the winner of the Royal Institute of British Architects' prestigious Regional Awards 2019. Spanning counties and diverse categories to highlight the best national talent in architecture, this award is testament to the admiration and excitement surrounding the innovative building designed for Aria by Groupwork, formerly Amin Taha Architects.

Erected on a former bomb site, this 1:1 cast monument has transformed the corner of Upper Street where it is located, while also paying tribute to the past. The striking terracotta construction replicates a Victorian terrace which previously occupied the spot. Cast into machine milled polystyrene moulds, the site and method have been compared to Rachael Whiteread's 1993 sculpture Untitled 'House'. Seamlessly blending the past and present, the iconic and unique structure is set to become a new London landmark.
