A design icon that has defined comfort for over fifty years, the Togo Fireside Chair by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset is as relevant today as when it first appeared in 1973. Low-slung, deeply enveloping, and unmistakably sculptural, it is the chair you sink into and never want to leave – equally at home as a standalone statement or as part of a Togo arrangement.

This version is upholstered in Kyoto Leather by Camira, selected by Ligne Roset – a leather of exceptional character, inspired by the refined aesthetic of Japanese kimono dyeing. Buttery and supple to the touch, it has a remarkably smooth surface that invites daily contact and improves with age and use. A subtle, understated sheen rather than high-gloss finish, with natural grain characteristics and tactile warmth that develop a rich patina over time. The nuanced colouration and depth are derived from specialised dyeing techniques that give each hide its own quiet individuality – a wabi-sabi sophistication that blends minimalist modern lines with an appreciation for natural imperfection.

About the Designer

Michel Ducaroy trained at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and spent his career at Roset, designing across upholstery, contract furniture, and youth ranges. The Togo – conceived at the dawn of the foam era – remains his most celebrated work and one of the most recognisable silhouettes in twentieth-century furniture design.
