Bulbo57 Suspension Light

By Flos

£495.00

Originally designed in 1957 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Bulbo57 comprises a visually light aesthetic. Its simple form references the technical elements of an industrial bulb, in two perfectly rounded spheres, placing the central filament at the core of its design.

Flos have launched a brand new edition of this iconic design, exchanging the classic tungsten filament with an LED source that preserves the same colour and luminosity as the original, with an ecological light source for modern living. Handcrafted in transparent glass, the Bulbo 57 emits a warm light temperature.

The Castiglioni brothers design methodology references the Dadaist concept of the readymade, beginning with a deconstruction of existing elements to create a new composition of forms.

In the case of Bulbo57 the process of simplification is clear. A synthesis of redesign and ready-made, where the classic filament becomes integral to the design, both decorative and illuminating.

The duo of bulb-shaped pendants are crafted from blown borosilicate glass, suspended from one ceiling rose, with excellent shock resistance properties and transparency. The led filament is held in position internal tube, which is used in turn to extract the air, preventing any build-up of condensation. Customised configurations can be created with the nylon wires attached to two ceiling supports.

Light temperature: 2200°K

Voltage 220/240 W.

Power: 6 W. The light source is guaranteed for 15,000 hours.

Dimensions: 20 cm, cable length up to 2 metres.
