A contemporary centrepiece for an interior space, Parachute by Ligne Roset, is as light as air. This innovative design is comprised of three modular shades in different sizes, forming a striking and sculptural ceiling light. The open structure of the three-tiered shade, combined with its symmetrical form, creates a balanced design with a feeling of lightness. The downward facing pendant shades echo the movement of a parachute in flight.

Crafted from black lacquered steel wire, The Parachute Pendant light is also available in gold.

Designed for Ligne Roset by Nathan Yong, who graduated from industrial design from Temasek Polytechnic in 1991. Beginning his career in the purchasing and product development departments of many companies in Singapore, his work enabled him to travel extensively while developing various skills and production techniques. In 1991 he opened his own store, Air Division, selling his own experimental creations. Achieving commercial success and critical acclaim, he was awarded the Red Dot Concept Design Award two years later. Nathan's designs are characterised by poetic nuances expressive of tranquillity, allusions to nature, technology, craftsmanship and the influence of society and culture in Singapore. In 2008 he was awarded the Singapore President's Design Award, Designer of the Year, the highest honour awarded to Singaporean designers from diverse creative disciplines. He currently heads up a multidisciplinary design studio and his creations have been displayed worldwide.
